Meet Tom Hoops

Tom Hoops is a portrait and fashion photographer known for his distinctive, emotive style and ability to capture raw human character. Working between studio and location, Tom’s images blend strong composition with a cinematic use of light, creating work that feels both contemporary and timeless.

His photography has been featured internationally, and he is recognised for his intuitive approach to directing subjects and uncovering authentic, powerful moments. Tom is also the founder of Wild Dogs in Paris, Wild Dogs Editions and Underexposed.

He founded Underexposed to bring together photographers who want to move beyond gear and technical settings, exploring the ideas, conversations and honest feedback that lead to stronger, more distinctive photography. "Great portraits and fashion photography aren't made by better cameras. They're made through curiosity, trust and connection."

"Working with Tom has significantly elevated my work in a short amount of time. His honest, no-nonsense feedback is exactly what you need when you're serious about improving. There's nothing more valuable than constructive critique from someone who’s already where you want to be. Tom creates an environment that’s both supportive and challenging - pushing you out of your comfort zone while always having your back. In our 1-on-1 sessions, he consistently goes above and beyond. His knowledge of photography across different genres, along with his broad creative insight, is truly impressive. Beyond the creative side, Tom brings a wealth of industry experience. He understands how to work with agents, agencies, and models, and he's generous in sharing that insider knowledge with anyone eager to learn. Simply put, he knows his craft - and he's committed to helping you grow in yours."
